SKIN: Origins

Because anti-aging can never start too young.

I am a sucker for those silly samples Sephora makes you walk past as you approach the cash register. The tiny packaging hits home for whatever reason and I can never seem to leave the store without something that is travel size. While my eyes darted back and forth between several cleaners and masks I decided to try Origins Checks and Balances Frothy Face wash.

I don’t want to come off dramatic, but I have never used a product so incredible until this moment. My first impression was the crisp, fresh smell it gave off. If you have ever visited an Origins store you know that this “spa-like” smell engulfs you as you walk in; and that is exactly what this face wash did. The best part? You only need to use a pea-size amount for your whole face to be sudsy.

I had never used an eye cream before trying Origins GinZing Refreshing Eye Cream. We all are aware of the highlighter hype right now; just think of this eye cream as another addition to the highlighter fam. Right off the bat you will notice the iridescent shimmer it has in it (hence the brightening/highlighter effect). What I love about the GinZing line is they all smell like fresh oranges and really make you feel awake. I love using this product in the morning, especially on the weekends if I am planning on going makeup free.

If you are not using a daytime moisturizer with sunscreen, now is the time to start! Even a small amount counts towards better skin in the future. My favorite right now is Origins VitaZing SPF 15 Energy-Boosting Moisturizer. This moisturizer is lightweight and doesn’t feel like you’re slathering on sunscreen. Origins made a product that you could wear and feel comfortable running errands in without dealing with a full face of makeup because of its “sheer tint release”. Without being one of those cheesy tinted moisturizers we used  when we were 12; it smooths out your skin and any discoloration you may have.

I didn’t start using a night time moisturizer until last year. I honestly, hadn’t done very much research, I just knew I wanted something anti aging. I’m currently using Origins High Potency Night-A-Mins Mineral Enriched Renewal Cream. Normally with my combination skin I would go for the Oil-Free version of this moisturizer, but strangely enough I broke out after trying it. My skin feels hydrated in the morning, not greasy. The consistency is rich, creamy, and when used with the right proportions for your face/neck, can feel oh so good. What I mean by this is; don’t use too much!

Last but not least; Body Lotion. I never put a lot of thought into the body lotion I used. I knew I wanted it to smell good, but I mostly just went for whatever I could get my hands on at Target that was under $10. That was until in a moment of desperation I bought Origins Precipitation – Continuous Moisture Recovery For Body. I would never normally never spend $62 on body lotion, but like I said; I was desperate and in the spur of the moment I told myself this would be a good decision. Turns out it was. The non-greasy formula makes this body lotion worth it’s weight in gold. I’ve had the problem before that no matter how much lotion you put on after the shower you’re feeling dry a few hours later. Just like every other Origins product, it smells light and refreshing.

My tip for keeping your skin youthful? It’s all about the application! In particular, for your serums and moisturizers, gently apply your products in an upward motion and then press them into your skin instead of aggressively rubbing.

Sephora Travel Size Section…. My skin thanks you.
